A well-organized supply room is critical to any operation and extra time spent searching for supplies can have a negative impact on your workflow and productivity. Using these simple steps, you can get started immediately on a plan that will help you reorganize your supply room and keep it organized!Step 1: Appoint a team of 3 to 5 diverse members to work on the supply room project.
Step 2: Assess your current supply room set-up and examine the need for a color code system.

Step 4: Measure the supply room and note any special circumstances (pillars and columns, nontraditional room layouts, etc.).
Step 5: Determine the optimal date and time for your supply room reorganization.
Step 6: Prepare bin labels or determine a labeling system in advance of reorganization.
Step 7: Place your existing and new wire shelving and install your louvered panels.
Step 8: One area at a time, reorganize your supply room.
Step 9: Speak to staff members who use the supply room about the new layout.
Step 10: Survey staff members on the effectiveness of the new program and make any final adjustments.
Step 11: Make sure a 5S schedule and checklist are clearly posted and followed daily.
